Tottenham ready to pay €15m for South American defender

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao.

According to a report from TuttoUdinese, the 26-year-old Brazilian might be available during the January transfer window and the Premier League side are willing to pay around €15 million to secure his services.

The Brazilian defender has been an important first-team player for the Italian club season and they are reportedly trying to tie him down to a contract extension. However, they have not been able to reach an agreement with the player’s representatives and that has led to rumours surrounding his long-term future at the club.

The report adds that Premier League rivals Arsenal are keen on signing the player as well and they are weighing up an offer for the 26-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.

Both clubs could use some depth and quality in their back line, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat their London rivals to the signature of the Brazilian.

Becao is at the peak of his career right now and playing alongside better players in the Premier League and working under a world-class manager like Antonio Conte could help him improve further.

The player is likely to be tempted if there is a concrete offer on the table from either of the two Premier League clubs.

The player will be a free agent at the end of next season and Udinese could look to cash in on him in the upcoming windows if he refuses to sign a new deal.
