Tottenham reaches a loan agreement with Atalanta for Pierluigi Gollini

Tottenham Hotspur appears to have found their heir apparent to Hugo Lloris. The 34-year-old goalkeeper has a contract for one more year, and it seems as though the English club didn’t want to wait on finding the replacement.

According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham is set to sign Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta BC as its new goalkeeper.

When it comes to the contract details, the agreement is a loan until 2022 with an option to extend the loan until 2023 plus a buy option of €15-million for Tottenham. The option to buy could become an obligation in case of some targets are achieved by Gollini.

Should Lloris remain on the squad for this season, and if Gollini performs as to what many would expect, it will be interesting to see how Nuno Espírito Santo goes about dividing the time in goal.

Nonetheless, Tottenham has begun making moves, and many are hoping that significant reinforcements will arrive to improve the backline before the summer window closes.
