Tottenham ‘put out feelers’ for 26-y/o Liverpool target Ange wanted at Celtic

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Ko Itakura.

According to a report from Sky Germany, Tottenham and Liverpool are keen on signing the 26-year-old defender and the north London club have already ‘put out feelers’ for him.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been keeping tabs on the defender for a while and he wanted to sign the player during his time at Celtic.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keeping tabs on the Japanese defender as well. The player will be able to move on for a fee of around €10-15 million during the summer transfer window because of a clause in his contract.

He could prove to be a bargain for both clubs at that price.

It is no secret that Tottenham need to add defensive depth to their side. They have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin at their disposal. Ideally, they should look to aim for four quality defenders and Itakura would be a solid acquisition for a reasonable price.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat the competition from Liverpool and secure his services.

Liverpool will have to bring in a quality long-term replacement for Joel Matip. He will be out of contract in the summer and the Reds must replace him adequately.

Itakura will be tempted to join a big club and the opportunity to play for Tottenham or Liverpool will be hard to turn down. It would be a major step up in his career.
