An offer for Conor Gallagher seems imminent with latest report claiming Tottenham are preparing an offer for the Chelsea midfielder.
That’s according to the latest report from the Daily Mail, which claims that Spurs feel there is an opportunity to secure a good value deal for the midfield before June 30th, which is the deadline for clubs to include transfers in their next accounting year.
The club needs to balance their books before the deadline in order to adhere with the Financial Fairplay Rules.
Which is why they could be forced to sell some of their star players like Gallagher who would give them a pure profit since they are academy graduates.
Tottenham are not the only club after him. Premier League rivals Aston Villa are also keen on securing his services.
In fact, it was reported last night that Aston Villa have made the first move by initiating talks with Chelsea regarding the midfielder.
The Blues are demanding a fee close to £50m for their captain but with Gallagher entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, there could be a substantial margin for negotiation.
Last season, Gallagher was a consistent presence in Mauricio Pochettino’s teamsheet, starting 37 out of 38 possible Premier League games and contributing with 5 goals and 7 assists. He was also named the captain by the Argentinean manager.
However, following the departure of Pochettino, the Cobham academy graduate might be keen to switch sides.
And given the player’s preference to stay in London, Tottenham could hold an advantage over other clubs.
