Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to complete the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City before the transfer window closes.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are now stepping up their efforts to sign the 26-year-old attacking midfielder and they are prepared to make an approach for him soon.
Maddison will want to play for a Premier League club next season after Leicester City were relegated to the Championship. He is a proven performer in the top flight scoring 10 goals in picking up nine assists last season.
He would certainly improve Tottenham going forward and help create more goalscoring opportunities for players like Harry Kane.
The England international striker has had to shoulder the creative burden last season and Maddison could fix the problem next year.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can agree on a reasonable deal with Leicester City in the coming weeks.
Romano claims that the 26-year-old has been ‘approved’ by Ange Postecoglou as a ‘key target’.

The Australian manager will be hoping to introduce an exciting brand of attacking football at Tottenham and he will certainly be technically gifted attacking players like Maddison.
The 26-year-old midfielder can operate as the number ten as well as the advanced central midfielder in a midfield three. He is also capable of doing a job in the wide areas because of his close control and linkup play.
The player is well settled in English football and he should be able to make an immediate impact for Tottenham in the Premier League next year.
