Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is currently on loan at Spanish club Villarreal.
The 26-year-old has struggled with persistent injury problems this season and he missed out on the Argentine World Cup squad as well.
It Is believed that Villarreal are closing in on the signing of Denis Suarez which could push Lo Celso down the pecking order at the Spanish club.
The 26-year-old Argentine midfielder will be hoping to play regularly and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Villarreal do not have the option to sign the player permanently at the end of his loan spell and they are expected to hold talks with Tottenham regarding a permanent move.
As per Estadio Deportivo, the Premier League side have already informed them that Lo Celso will cost €20 million at the end of the season. It remains to be seen whether Villarreal are prepared to splash the cash on him, especially after the arrival of Suarez.
Furthermore, the Spanish outfit will need to secure Champions League football in order to rake in the finances necessary to complete Lo Celso’s signing.
The Argentine joined Tottenham in 2019 and he has failed to establish himself as an important first-team player for the London club. A permanent move away from Tottenham at the end of the season would be ideal for all parties and it remains to be seen whether any club is willing to pay the €20 million asking price for the Argentine playmaker.
