Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for the Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu.

The 19-year-old is one of the finest young talents in European football, and he is also on the radar of clubs like AC Milan and Chelsea. According to a report from Gazzetta Dello Sport via Sport Witness, Tottenham are in ‘pole position’ to sign the 19-year-old, and it will be interesting to see if they are ready to pay up for him.

They were also keen on signing the left-back during the summer transfer window, but the North London club decided to abandon their pursuit because of his asking price. The Italian outfit were reportedly holding out for a fee of around €30-35 million.

Since then, the defender has signed a new contract until 2029, and it is fair to assume that his asking price could rise now. Dorgu has impressed with his performances and he is very highly rated. Lecce could easily demand a premium for him in the coming months. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to break the bank for him.

They could certainly use another left-back, especially with Ben Davies in his twilight years. The 19-year-old could be a key player for Tottenham in the long term. He is capable of operating as a wing-back as well, and he will help them improve going forward. He will be expected to compete with Destiny Udogie for the starting spot if he joins the North London club.

There is no doubt that Tottenham have the financial resources to get the deal done, but they will need to improve the other areas of their squad as well. They cannot afford to overspend on another left-back. It will be interesting to see if Lecce can be more reasonable with their demands.

Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell has been linked with the exit from Chelsea and the Blues need an alternative. The 19-year-old would be a superb future investment for them.
