Tottenham player has given ‘approval’ to Euro giants regarding January move

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.

The 27-year-old was expected to leave Tottenham during the summer transfer window, but he ended up staying on the back of an impressive pre-season. The Argentine struggled for regular game time at the start of the season, but an injury to James Maddison has now given him the opportunity he needs.

Lo Celso has been quite impressive in his recent outings and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to sanction his departure in January. Clubs like Napoli and Barcelona are keen on securing his services.

However, journalist Antonello Gallo has reported (h/t Area Napoli) that the player has given his ‘approval’ to Napoli regarding a loan transfer next month. Although Barcelona are keen on signing him, the 27-year-old midfielder is ready to join the Italian club.

Napoli won the league title last season and a move to the Italian club could be an exciting opportunity for the player, especially if they are prepared to provide him with gametime assurances.

Barcelona need more quality and creativity in the final third as well, especially after the injury to Gavi. However, Lo Celso will fall down the pecking order once the Spanish international returns to the side.

If Napoli can give him the assurances he needs, moving to the Italian club might be more beneficial for the player who needs to play regularly at this stage of his career.
