Tottenham open talks with 24-year-old international – a huge upgrade on what the club already has

Just a few days ago we brought you the news that Belgian international Timothy Castagne revealed that he would find it hard to say no to Tottenham.

Castagne is one of the most important members of the Atalanta side that has been playing some of the best football in Italy.

They qualified for the Champions League last season and they have had a solid first campaign in the competition, while also maintaining a solid presence in the Italian league.

Castagne made it very clear the sort of club that he wants to move to, telling Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure: “I think the time has come to move on, but I won’t be disappointed if I stay in Bergamo.

“I’m very proud of this. It’s proof that hard work pays off. I hope it’s more than just simple interest from them.

“You have to be honest with yourself. When a team like PSG or Tottenham come knocking on your door, you can’t say ‘no’.”

Now, Footballinsider is reporting that Tottenham is set to open up talks with the 24-year-old right back.

The same report reckons that Jose Mourinho initially wanted Thomas Meunier but have now turned their attention to Castagne following the news that Meunier is set to sign for Borussia Dortmund.

Hopefully, Tottenham can pull this off because any improvement on Serge Aurier is a huge positive and Castagne would certainly be that required improvement.
