Tottenham on verge of selling first-teamer to Inter Milan

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham are in discussions with Inter Milan over a surprise deal for midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Ndombele, who arrived at Tottenham as the club’s record signing in 2019 for a fee of £63 million, has struggled to meet the high expectations associated with his signing.

Despite his significant potential, his performances have not lived up to the hype, and he has failed to impress the various managers he has worked under at Spurs.

Last season, Ndombele spent time on loan at Napoli, where he contributed to the club’s Serie A title triumph. However, Napoli did not pursue a permanent deal for the French midfielder.

Yesterday’s report claimed that Spurs have agreed a deal with Italian side Genoa and that all is left is for the club to convince the player to join them.

However, Romano today confirmed that the deal with Genoa has collapsed.

He posted on X:

Inter have just asked Tottenham for the conditions of Tanguy Ndombele loan deal for the final 48h.

Up to Inter whether they decide to proceed or not, interest is there as @GuarroPas called.

Ndombele is not the only option on the list. Deal with Genoa 100% collapsed.

Romano also reported of Inter’s interest in signing him on loan. However he added that Ndombele is not the only option for Inter Milan.

Given Ndombele’s struggles to adapt to English football and fully settle at Tottenham, a move away this summer could benefit all parties involved.

Tottenham would have preferred a permanent sale but they have found it hard so far to agree a permanent deal with any of the potential suitors.

At this point they will be more than happy to agree a loan deal to get him off their payroll for another year.
