Tottenham Hotspur continues to be linked with a move for the Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida.
According to Footmercato, Liverpool are keen on the player as well. The report states that the versatile defender is a man in demand this summer. Spurs are ‘on the trail’ of Geertruida and it remains to be seen whether they can win the race for his signature.
The 23-year-old defender is versatile enough to operate as a central defender, a full-back on either flank as well as a wing-back. He could prove to be the ideal squad player for Tottenham if they can get the deal done. He scored eight goals last season and picked up five assists in the league last season.
He is in the final year of his contract with Feyenoord and therefore he could be available for a reasonable price this summer. Tottenham must do everything in their power to get the deal done.
Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from the club, and he will need to be replaced adequately. The 23-year-old seems like the ideal fit.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an attractive one for Geertruida as well. Tottenham and Liverpool are amongst the biggest clubs in the country and the option to play for them will be hard to turn down for the defender.
Liverpool are looking to add more quality and depth to the defensive unit as well and the 23-year-old certainly fits the profile. They have the resources to get the deal done as well. It will be interesting to see if they can beat Spurs to his signature.
