Tottenham officials were present in Frankfurt this week to watch player who impressed against England

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham are actively scouting potential targets at the ongoing Euro in Germany as they prepare for the summer transfer window.

Spurs have identified midfielder Morten Hjulmand from Sporting Lisbon as a prime candidate and have had their club officials in Frankfurt this week to explore the signing.

The Lilywhites aren’t alone in their interest; Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the Danish international.

The latest from Record (via Sport Witness) highlight Hjulmand’s standout performances for Denmark at Euro 2024, which have caught the attention of Tottenham.

The defensive midfielder showcased his talent with a spectacular 30-yard strike in Denmark’s 1-1 draw against England on matchday 2, leaving goalkeeper Jordan Pickford helpless.

This impressive display has further elevated his profile among potential suitors.

Hjulmand is coming off an outstanding debut season with Sporting, where he was instrumental in their title-winning campaign.

He made 49 appearances across all competitions, contributing four goals and four assists.

The 24-year-old joined Sporting last summer on a five-year deal for €18 million, with potential add-ons bringing the fee to €21 million.

His release clause is a substantial €80 million, reflecting the value in which he is held by the Portuguese club.

Despite this, Tottenham are said to be eager to negotiate a deal to bring Hjulmand to North London.

His performances at Euro 2024 have proven his ability to compete at the highest level, making him an attractive target for Spurs as they look to strengthen their midfield.

The Lilywhites’ proactive stance in the transfer market is clear with their representatives’ presence in Frankfurt, as they continue to pursue top talents for the upcoming season.
