Tottenham now ready to sell two players in January as they look to raise funds for new signings

By Mehdi Gokal -

Both Bryan Gil and Pape Matar-Sarr could be sold by Tottenham Hotspur to Sevilla in the January transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte (via Express).

Under Antonio Conte, both players have had difficulty getting playing time, so it is not surprising that the north London club has made this decision. Selling the pair would also contribute to the transfer budget that they will give to Conte for spending.

Sarr has yet to play a single game for Spurs this season. Senegal still selected him for the World Cup, where he played in two matches before being eliminated in the Round of 16 by England, 3-0.

Tottenham values the 20-year-old midfielder at around £13 million, and the La Liga club sees him as one of its top targets when the transfer window opens.

Meanwhile, Gil has also struggled to get game time under Conte. The 21-year-old has appeared in only six games for the club in all competitions this season and is yet to score or assist. His development since joining Tottenham has really halted.

He had a great loan spell at Valencia where he impressed the Spanish club so much that they tried to sign him again in the summer but the move was blocked by the club on deadline day because they wanted to keep squad depth.

However, the report by the Spanish outlet suggests that Spurs are now ready to cash in on him, with Sevilla keen on signing him as a replacement for former Real Madrid star Isco.

Seeling Gil and Pape would be a wise move as it would free up some wages as well add to Conte’s transfer kitty for the winter transfer window.

Last season, the Italian used the winter window wisely, bringing in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus, both of whom have been key players for the club since joining.
