Tottenham now in advanced talks with La Liga club to sell £80k a week star

According to Diario De Cadiz, La Liga club RCD Mallorca are now in advanced talks with Tottenham about a January move for 21-year-old winger Bryan Gil.

Recently, the player was linked with a number of other clubs, including Real Sociedad.

Gil has struggled to hold down a starting spot since joining Spurs. He was loaned out to Valencia last season where he impressed.

The Spanish club wanted to sign him again in the summer but the Spurs blocked his move on the deadline day.

Despite working hard in pre-season, the young winger’s situation has not improved. Gil has not started a single game for Antonio Conte’s side this season, and he must leave if he is to play regularly in the first team. And Tottenham may be willing to let him go in January.

Gil was regarded as one of Spain’s best young talents prior to joining Tottenham. His development has been halted by the move to London.

By playing in a familiar environment, the 21-year-old hopes to return to that level and realise his enormous potential.

Mallorca require more attacking threat in their squad and a move to the Spanish club would be the best option for the player right now too.

They are currently 11th in La Liga and will aim to finish the season strongly by finishing in the top half. If Gil joins them, he could have an immediate impact. He is not new to Spanish football and should be able to adjust quickly.

The young forward is under contract with Spurs until 2026 and will be hoping that a fruitful loan spell with Mallorca will help put an end to his Premier League nightmare.

If he can make an impression with the Spanish club, he may receive a number of transfer offers at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if Mallorca can close the deal in the coming weeks.
