Tottenham now facing Milan battle for 27-year-old with good leadership skills

AC Milan is set to battle with Tottenham for the signature of Marcel Sabitzer after they identified him as the ideal replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu.

The midfielder plays for RB Leipzig and has a year left on his current deal with them.

They want to keep him beyond next season, but the midfielder is considering the many offers he has and might decide to leave.

Calciomercato says his impressive talents and leadership skills have caught the attention of AC Milan and the Italians are keen to add him to their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League next season.

He is one of the leaders at Leipzig as well as the Austrian national team and this shows how highly regarded he is around both squads.

The 27-year-old has been a target of Tottenham since Jose Mourinho was their manager.

Even though the Portuguese boss has been sacked, the club still wants to sign him.

But the report says AC Milan isn’t the only competition that Tottenham is facing in their bid to land him this summer.

Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan also have interest in his signature and he has a release clause of around 50m euros.

However, the report says half of that fee would be enough to tempt his current club to sell.
