Tottenham now among frontrunners to sign striker with 72 goals and 23 assists after recent development – report

Tottenham have been linked with several centre-forwards leading up to the ongoing transfer window.

The likes of Ivan Toney, Jonathan David, Santiago Gimenez, and Alexander Isak among others have all been linked with a move.

However, according to The Sun, Spurs have emerged as the frontrunners along with West Ham to sign Ivan Toney.

Brentford are reportedly ready to slash their asking price for the prolific striker to under £50 million due to a lack of interest from other clubs.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United have all reportedly informed Brentford that they do not intend to bid for Toney, narrowing the race down to Tottenham and West Ham as the most likely destinations for the England international.

The Lilywhites are seriously considering a summer move for Toney, particularly given the possibility of securing him at a reduced fee.

The 28-year-old forward has entered the final year of his contract with Brentford, set to expire next June. This situation compels the Bees to consider selling him now to recoup a transfer fee close to his market value, rather than risk losing him for free next year.

Toney’s career, which spans over 350 appearances across all four English Football League divisions, has seen him directly contribute to around 200 goals. Since joining the Bees, he has scored 72 goals and assisted 23 in 141 appearances. (Transfermarkt)

His wealth of experience and proven quality make him an attractive prospect for Tottenham, who are looking to bolster their attacking options.

The potential acquisition of Toney could provide a significant boost to Spurs’ squad, offering both depth and a reliable goal-scoring threat.
