Tottenham ‘not willing’ to pay €70m for target despite ‘expressing their desire’ to sign star

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

The 27-year-old striker could be on the move when the transfer window opens in January and the likes of Tottenham Hotspur have been ‘expressing their desire’ to sign him.

Brentford are reportedly requesting a figure of around €70 million for the striker but Tottenham are ‘not willing’ to commit to such a high transfer fee. They are reportedly seeking negotiation alternatives with the Premier League club to reduce the cost of the operation as per Fichajes.

Toney wants to join a big club midway through the campaign and the opportunity to play for Tottenham will be an exciting option for him.

Spurs have started the season really well and they are currently on top of the league table. They will look to stay there until the end of the season and bringing in the right reinforcements in January will certainly strengthen their case.

Toney is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League and he could be the ideal replacement for Harry Kane. Richarlison has not been able to live up to the expectations and fill the void left by the England international and therefore signing the 27-year-old Brentford striker could prove to be a wise decision.

The €70 million asking price seems like a premium but Toney certainly has the potential to justify the investment. He is well-settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact.

Meanwhile, Spurs will face competition from London rivals Arsenal as well. It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs manage to get the deal done.
