Plausible Spurs XI to face Arsenal in the last North London Derby of the season

This North London Derby is already set to get off on the wrong foot, with the word on the street being that a plane has been hired to fly a ‘Levy Out’ banner over the stadium. Whether you like ENIC or not, that’s not the point here, the point is, this is too little too late. So lap it up boys, and brace yourselves for absolutely nothing happening as a result of your sideshow.

There’s a late fitness test for Giovani Lo Celso that doesn’t bode well, Dele Alli’s hamstring rules him out, Eric Dier is serving out his suspension, which just leaves Foyth and Tanganga still out. I note Troy Parrott has vanished from the Physioroom listing, so maybe he’ll make it onto the Tottenham bench tomorrow? No, me neither…

There’s a mumble doing the rounds that Serge Aurier might not feature, which in the scheme of things won’t make such a huge difference to how Spurs are likely to line up. The above picks are obviously minus the Ivorian, and if he is fit, then we revert to a back four with Davies and swap out Sessegnon.

Personally, the selection here looks far fresher and leaves us with Steven Bergwijn on the bench. As for Harry Winks, I think after recent games, we’ve all seen more than we needed to.

He was 22 when he came and the club has been in a state of flux. I just don’t want us to give up on a huge talent too soon. He was massively rated before he came, that wasn’t just a coincidence.

Even before my time did Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles struggle to get a game? Did Klinsmann take ‘time to settle’? Theres no excuses man.

Tevez, Masherano, Robben, Cristiano Ronaldo, any quality player who has graced our league have never ever struggled like Ndomdonut.

He is 23 mate…. Not 22….. Rounded up its closer to mid twenties… In two seasons he will be 25.. Some players are fully developed in their teens think rooney and owen. Everyones different agreed. Harry kane was a late bloomer… Tanguy has been playing a long time now, I will be highly suprised if he’s suddenly amazing after two more seasons. We can see what he is by now. You cant trust inconsistancy and laziness. His problem is his psychology. He has also put on weight.. If he cost 15 million and was on 50k a week then I’d say fair enough but still I wouldnt want him starting….. Club record signing and hes raking in 200k a week same as the England captain….. At least stay trim. At least run…. He is a massive part of the reason we are in trouble…. Quality players may struggle with food and climate and culture, but they never struggle on that pitch.

That’s the crucial thing, 22 isn’t his mid 20’s. That few years up to 25 are towards their full development and coming from another league it’s another layer of learning to do. Some of the best players in the world have struggled to adjust quickly to a new country.

I just think he’s being dug out a bit too much once you look at the bigger picture of the situation he’s walked into at Spurs.

He is 23 mate, not 16.. Versatile players like dier and king still have their favoured or most natural positions (both learnt their trades at centre back). King was only played in midfield for england because Terry and Ferdinand were always first choice at the back. Campbell was still around a while too, not sure King would have had any caps otherwise…. Ndomballboy is no modric, modders was consistantly class hence why the chavs and madrid soon came calling for him… Noone came for Tanguy apart from us. Reports are he had the same problems at Lyon. One great match followed by 3 average ones… Expensive hot talents should not need tweaking or developing in their mid 20s. They should be the finished polished product. Bruno is the perfect example, only a year or 2 older, same heavy price. The complete player.

Its not about knowing where to play, it’s about honing those skills in the right role in the right system. He put in great performances for Lyon against the best in the Champions League, he can play alright.

Take a player like Dier, what’s his best position? Ledley was still playing in midfield for England at 23.

Modric played as a 10 for Arry to start with as he wasn’t strong enough or familiar enough with the role in the English game as a 23 year old, within a couple of seasons he was running games from a deeper role.

He’s not disciplined positionally enough for Jose right now and Jose doesn’t generally hone younger players. He had an immediate job to do as manager because that’s his profile. He gets on with winning, might not always be pretty but he wins and quickly, that’s what we were told to expect.

The whole Tanguy/Jose thing is the result of a chairman pursuing one kind of ‘policy’ and then sacking the coach that makes that work and bringing in a completely different animal as a manager.

This all falls to Levy, but as usual the discussion is about Tanguy, Jose and Poch when they are merely caught up in the dysfunction Levy cultivates with his constant meddling in things he doesn’t understand.

His price tag certainly weighs heavy but that doesn’t mean he isn’t in need of the right coach and the right environment to evolve from a young talent in France into a top quality number 8 in the Premiership.

I agree, if we wanted the ready made article to improve the team Bruno would have been the player, linked to him but it never happened and I’m sure Poch would have liked him in.

For another club with a bigger investment in the football, he would be seen as an expensive hot talent that needs tweaking. Under Levy he is expected to solve all of our midfield issues immediately because we have nobody else. That’s the main issue here, not the player, he just needs time and the manager needs backing.

Levy is incapable of providing either…

Hes 23 but still hasn’t developed to know where to play! 😆 This is our club record signing mate…. Its like we are talking about a young 17 or 18 yr old with potential…. Dele alli is the same age now but when he signed for us as a teen 6 odd years ago then fair enough talking about a youngun like that…. Levy here has invested loads in a bum… He should have spent that money on bruno..

Hes never been able to cross though bruv. His short passing is fine he should just keep the ball on the deck and pass and move. When he hits the byline then look for another short pass.. I actually like the guy, he has presence. He is strong and quick and he tries. He battles. He wants to win he has the mentality… I would say no serge if we had anyone better who can play right back, but we don’t.

Thats the thing, that made so little sense of his appointment we had a squad which is anti jose and a transfer policy which is not how he likes to work

Definitely no Serge, now not only can he not defend and is a penalty waiting to happen, but he’s forgotten how to cross too.

Has Jose ordered the double decker bus to park in front of Hugo’s goal yet? Make a change from the pushbike we normally park there. Watching this is going to be akin to walking barefoot across hot coals with a kipper stuck up each nostril. Hope Deviant Danny enjoys watching from his empty stadium.

Interesting article I was reading that Tanguy is mega talented but hasn’t yet developed to a point where his best midfield role can be defined. He’s not disciplined enough to play as a 6 (or a 4 in English) not really a number 8 yet but probably his future role.

One of the main points was that he needed to be developed, he understands this and was keen to work with Poch and at a club with a record of developing players of that age group in their first 11.

Jose arriving has pretty much scuppered all of this as he doesn’t like players who aren’t positional and disciplined in that way.

I’d get rid of the manager and get someone who could crack on with him. I think there’s a strong chance Levy might do that anyway, if he’s got any common sense left…

Sory, forgot to mention, we must remove all glass and replace with steel panels…we don’t want any broken glass on the pitch when Arsenal smash us!
