Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with the move for the Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The 23-year-old has been linked with the move away from Stamford Bridge and Dean Jones has now revealed on Give Me Sport that Tottenham have an interest in signing the player. However, they will have to overcome a major problem.
The midfielder has an emotional problem and he does not want to leave Chelsea this month. Tottenham, on the other hand, are prepared to sign him for a fee of around £40-50 million.
“Conor Gallagher is a player they have an interest in. They find it hard to believe that he will actually become available for transfer but, if he genuinely is, they think they are the perfect club for him to end up at.
“If they could get Conor Gallagher for £40million to £50million, I think they would probably see that as a good deal and one that they would actually try to pursue.
“But at the moment, obviously, they have still got the problem – on an emotional level on Conor Gallagher’s side of things – whereby he doesn’t want to leave Chelsea.”
It appears that Chelsea would be willing to cash in on the player for the right price as well and it will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.
Gallagher has proven himself to be a capable performer in the Premier League with Chelsea and Crystal Palace. He could prove to be a solid, long-term acquisition for Tottenham and he would certainly help them improve in the middle of the park.
The English midfielder could prove to be the ideal acquisition for Tottenham with regards to their current style of play. His work rate and pressing ability could prove to be invaluable additions to the Spurs midfield.
Furthermore, the 23-year-old is only going to improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a top-class Premier League midfielder for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
It remains to be seen whether Gallagher can make up his mind and join Tottenham in the coming weeks, if the two clubs can agree on a fee.
