Tottenham ‘more likelier to sign’ 26-year-old star despite interest from other PL clubs

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has been linked with a move away from the club in the summer.

The Foxes were relegated to the Championship at the end of the Premier League campaign and they are expected to lose a number of key players. Maddison is clearly too good for the second division and he will want to play in the top flight next year.

Clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are keen on signing him according to a report from the Independent.

The report further states that Tottenham are now ‘more likelier to sign’ the player instead of Newcastle.

Maddison has been one of the best attacking midfielders in the country this season, scoring 10 goals and picking up nine assists in the Premier League.

He could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham who are in need of goals and creativity from the midfield.

Players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur have lacked the creative spark this past season and someone like Maddison would add a new dimension to the side.

Furthermore, Tottenham have appointed a manager with a progressive approach and Postecoglou would certainly benefit from having someone like Maddison on his side.

The 26-year-old is versatile enough to operate in a number of attacking roles and he could be a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons. The midfielder will add goals and creativity to the side. He will also be an asset when it comes to free kicks.

The midfielder is at the peak of his powers and he is well-settled in the Premier League. He is likely to make an immediate impact and improve Tottenham instantly.
