‘Talking in the pubs and the bars’ Hoddle understands how one Spurs performance resonated

Ange Postecoglou is undoubtedly adapting very well to the fast pace of top-flight management, even if he has to be very reactive in some instances, such as the proactive substitution of James Maddison in the West Ham. This is not a criticism, as surely fans want to see a manager improve and grow, as opposed to being rigid as José Mourinho and Antonio Conte proved to be.

Former Spurs coach and footballing legend Glenn Hoddle gushed over one performance in particular last night, that of Mikey Moore, who truly gave supporters a player to truly get behind. The player many Tottenham supporters referred to as ‘God’ believes that the Academy prospect is a club asset, that will be spoken of now in the local watering holes.

“Every club, they love a home-grown, don’t they? They love to see someone come through the ranks, make it into the first team and [the fans] will get behind him, week in and week out They’ll be talking about him in the pubs and the bars now. It will be about Mikey Moore.”

The Spurs Academy has been working hard, but since Harry Kane, and to a much lesser extent Harry Winks, there’s been very little to get excited about. Moore was frequently exciting to watch and was focused on causing AZ as much anxiety as possible.

Big Ange himself was a little more measured, in his praise for the boy after the game, which saw Spurs win yet again in Europe.

“He’s not the complete product but he doesn’t let those kind of things phase him, he doesn’t shy away from it, looks more comfortable on the left but still contributes on the right.”

Hoddle is routinely cautious when discussing Tottenham, and so this was a welcome piece of praise, not dropped lightly.
