Tottenham midfielder at centre of a three-way Premier League battle

Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp is attracting strong interest from three newly promoted Premier League clubs — Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton.

That is according to the latest report from The Telegraph, which claims that Skipp is expected to depart Spurs by the end of the summer transfer window.

Ipswich Town, managed by Keiran McKenna, is one of the clubs showing strong interest. McKenna’s previous ties with Tottenham could play a crucial role in Skipp’s decision-making process.

The 23-year-old’s potential move is particularly noteworthy due to his homegrown status and deep-rooted association with Tottenham.

Last season, Skipp was a squad player under manager Ange Postecoglou, making 24 appearances across all competitions but starting only seven of those matches. Ange preferred the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma over Skipp, reducing his role under the Australian.

Despite him not being part of Ange’s long-term plans, Tottenham might be hesitant to part with Skipp, given his status as a homegrown player.

Premier Leagues say that clubs have to register 8 homegrown players in their 25-man squad which is why the club will need to make sure they sign another homegrown player before selling Skipp.

Tottenham are strongly linked with a move for Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. If recent reports are to be believed, a move is likely to happen and Solanke’s arrival would boost Spurs’ homegrown quota, potentially paving the way for Skipp’s departure.

With the summer transfer window drawing to a close, the right offer from one of the interested Premier League clubs could prompt Tottenham to make a decision on Skipp.
