Tottenham make decision on the future of 27-year-old first-team player

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have decided to part ways with French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Ndombele joined Spurs from Olympique Lyon back in the summer of 2019 with huge expectations. The North London club forked out €60 million to have him at their disposal. While he did showcase glimpses of the talent he possesses over the years, the move hasn’t worked out as planned.

The French international has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Napoli and Galatasaray. Things haven’t been going that great for him and according to a report from Footmercato, Tottenham are ready to part ways with the former Olympique Lyon star.

During the 2023/24 season, the 27-year-old was involved in a total of 26 matches for the Turkish giants. But, he was on the pitch for less than 700 minutes and could only manage an assist. While Galatasaray had a buy option worth €15 million, they have decided not to trigger it following a disappointing loan spell.

Ndombele is all set to return to the North London club this summer but he has no future at Tottenham and they have already made a decision regarding his future.

Although he has a year left on his deal with Spurs, they are ready to part ways with the French international with mutual consent. His contract is all set to be terminated in the coming days. With the 27-year-old all set to be available for free, there should be no shortage of interest in his services.

He was regarded as a top class talent when he arrived in the Premier League, but his development has not gone according to plan. The midfielder clearly has time on his hands to get his career back on track, but he needs to join a club where he will get regular opportunities, and he will have the backing of the manager.
