Tottenham make an enquiry over versatile 22-year-old attacking midfielder

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has made an enquiry over the signing of Lille’s star, Jonathan Ikone, but they are not alone.

The Lilywhites will be looking to strengthen the team ahead of next season with Jose Mourinho hoping to end their long wait for a trophy.

The competition for places in the league table and cup competitions will be hot next season, with all the other top teams looking in good shape to compete.

Spurs have some of the best players in the league, but they know that they will need quality alternatives too and Ikone can provide that, but they would need to beat Newcastle United to his signature.

The former PSG trainee has developed very well since he joined Lille, and he was one of the players who helped them to the Champions League group stages this season.

They narrowly missed out of qualifying for the competition next season, and this might be his last season with them.

According to Telefoot journalist, Julien Maynard, the Lilywhites are looking to sign the forward.

He Tweeted: “Tottenham and Newcastle have inquired with LOSC about the situation of Jonathan Ikoné. Under contract until 2023, the young international could leave France this summer in the event of a significant offer. #Mercato

It is always interesting when a journalist goes out on a limb to make a specific claim, it tends to mean that there is something in what they are reporting.

Regarding him playing football manager, I hear from a reliable source that he gets relegated every year but his club has the most money in the bank.

Nowhere where the players cost upwards of 20 mill quid.

Has Levy got a buy 1 get 1 free deal going with the French league or something? Someone should point out to the pint sized baldy that the French and Dutch leagues for the most part are the rough equal of the Championship, which is where we’re heading, so perhaps that’s the plan for the future?

My bet is his holiday home is in Miami.

I think Daniel has a holiday home in France and offsets the cost of flights against club & scouting reconnaissance missions hence this obsession with Ligue 1

Lille won’t have any staff or players left by the time Daniel is done

Too far for Levy. He takes the Channel Tunnel in disguise, wearing a false moustache, similar to Deli Alli’s new one. If he can’t buy the player he wants in France with his ten year payment plan and a packet of luncheon vouchers, he pops into one of the duty free warehouses to stock up for Levy Towers. On arriving home, he calls a member of the THFC ground staff to come round and mow the lawn at Levy Towers, before retiring to his study with a glass of Wincarnis and play Football Manager.

Do we have scouts in any other part of the world? Germany or South America perhaps?

I wonder how that enquiry about Lille’s Jonathan Ikone went. I’ll have a guess. “Daniel Levy here. I’m enquiring about the cost of Jonathan Ikone. Well Mr Levy, it will take a significant offer”…. Mr Levy, Mr Levy are you still there?
