Tottenham made a move for two Benfica men but couldn’t agree on a deal

Portuguese TV show, Mais Transferências has just revealed that Tottenham have tried to get a deal done for two Benfica players, but they have been unsuccessful.

Spurs have been looking to sign a new striker in this transfer window as they have previously suffered from an overreliance on Harry Kane.

The Lilywhites always suffer when their captain is unavailable to play and they want to avoid that in this campaign.

They are chasing four trophies as they look to end their wait to win silverware with Jose Mourinho in charge.

The report claims that the Special One has identified Carlos Vinícius as his striker target, but Spurs and Benfica were unable to get a deal done over his transfer.

It claims that Spurs won’t pay more than 30 million euros for him, however, the Portuguese side has demanded two times that amount.

The report then adds that Tottenham also enquired about taking Haris Seferović on loan for the season.

Mourinho has maintained that he is confident of landing a striker in this transfer window.

The Lilywhites have signed Gareth Bale on a season-long loan deal, the Welshman is a proven goalscorer, it remains unclear if Bale’s signing will make any difference to Tottenham’s plans to sign a striker.
