Tottenham looking to include 26-year-old in swap deal for Premier League midfielder

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham continue to make strategic moves in the transfer market, aiming to maximise their chances.

One notable development involves Spurs’ defender Joe Rodon, who is expected to leave the club this summer.

Reports suggest that the Lilywhites are considering an “audacious” swap deal with Southampton, involving Rodon and the talented young midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

Journalist Alan Nixon reports that this potential exchange would see Rodon move to the Saints in return for Alcaraz.

This deal could benefit both clubs, addressing their needs in their respective positions.

Rodon had a commendable loan spell at Leeds United last season, where he played a crucial role in the team’s journey to the Championship play-off final.

The Welsh international made 46 appearances, starting 45 games, and was instrumental in maintaining 20 clean sheets for Leeds throughout the campaign.

On the other hand, Alcaraz, valued at £30 million, has demonstrated his potential in the Premier League with Southampton and during his loan spell with the Italian giants Juventus.

The Argentine midfielder signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Saints in January last year after arriving from Racing Club for a fee of €13.65 million.

Alcaraz made 12 appearances for Juventus after joining the Old Lady in January this year on a brief loan stint.

His performances have attracted the attention of Tottenham, who view him as a promising addition to their squad.

Spurs are eager to finalise a deal that benefits both clubs.

If successful, this swap would provide Southampton with the defensive stability they need, while Alcaraz’s dynamic presence in midfield would boost Ange Postecoglou’s options.
