Tottenham looking at selling as many as four defenders this summer in addition to Vertonghen loss

Danny Rose, Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Foyth and Serge Aurier may be shown the exit door this summer at Tottenham, joining already released Jan Vertonghen, according to the Evening Standard.

Spurs finished this season in a Europa League place after a troubled start and an inconsistent run of form after Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino as manager.

The Lilywhites hired the Portuguese manager because they want to end their long trophy drought.

He is keen on winning next season’s Europa League, but he knows that he will have to buy top players to be able to achieve that and releasing some underperforming members of his team will also be important.

Danny Rose was shipped out to Newcastle on-loan in the last transfer window after he fell out with the club. The Englishman’s career at Spurs is all but over and they will look to get as much money as they can from his transfer.

Kyle Walker-Peters also spent the second half of the just-concluded season on loan at Southampton and he looks very likely to join the Saints on a permanent transfer.

Juan Foyth hasn’t impressed Mourinho, and he has spent much of the manager’s time on the sidelines

Serge Aurier has played more often under the Portuguese boss, but it is mostly because he has no other option. He will look to sell him and get a more reliable full-back in the market, according to the same report.

It has to be said that losing those four players is not exactly a disaster, none of them is what you would regard as top class and their sales would raise some much-needed transfer funds.
