‘discussions will follow’: Romano confirms Tottenham decision on South American’s future

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz is currently on loan at the Spanish club Sevilla.

The 20-year-old joined the Spanish club on loan during the January transfer window and he was expected to play for them regularly. The loan move has not gone according to plan so far and the 20-year-old striker has played a total of 23 minutes in the Spanish league.

Tottenham are plotting another loan deal for the Argentine striker at the end of the season. He will return to Tottenham upon the expiry of his loan deal and he will head out on loan once again next season.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that ‘discussions will follow’ regarding his future and Tottenham are keen for him to experience regular football.

Alejo Veliz needs more playing time

Veliz is highly rated in South America and he has a big future ahead of him. However, he needs to play more often in order to fulfil his potential. Tottenham will not be able to provide him with that opportunity and therefore a loan move makes sense.

He needs to join a club where he will get ample gametime and Sevilla have not been able to provide him with that platform. Spurs must seek assurances from clubs before sending the player out on loan next season.

Veliz has the potential develop into a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons but the North London outfit will have to handle his development carefully. The 20-year-old cannot afford to sit on the bench at this stage of his career.

The striker will certainly be frustrated with the way his loan spell at Sevilla has worked out for him. It will be interesting to see if he can get his career back on track with regular football next season.
