Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Dutch international forward Memphis Depay.

The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Spanish club and he has been linked with the move away from Barcelona in recent weeks. He has played just thrice for Barcelona this season.

Depay impressed with the Netherlands during the ongoing World Cup and Tottenham could certainly benefit from having a versatile attacker like him at their disposal.

Antonio Conte needs a player who can share the goal-scoring burden alongside Harry Kane and operate in the wide areas as well. Spurs are eyeing up a move for the Dutchman as per Sport (h/t SportWitness).

The 28-year-old Barcelona forward will certainly add more quality and depth in the final third. He managed to score 13 goals across all competitions for Barcelona last season and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can agree on a deal with the Spanish outfit for Depay in the coming weeks.

The player will be out of contract at the end of the season and therefore Barcelona are likely to sell him for a knockdown price in January. The Spanish giants will not want to lose him on a free transfer in the summer.

Furthermore, Barcelona are going through a bit of a financial crisis right now and they need to get the wages of their fringe players off their books.

Selling Depay in January would be ideal for all parties and it remains to be seen whether the player can secure a move back to the Premier League.

Depay has played in the Premier League before with Manchester United but he had a difficult time at Old Trafford. He will be hoping to prove his quality in English football if a move to Tottenham goes through in the coming weeks.
