Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bologna defender Stefan Posch.
According to a report from Calciomercato.it, Tottenham are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old defender who is on loan at the Italian club Bologna. The Austrian is on loan from German club Hoffenheim and the Italian outfit have the option to sign him at the end of the season.
Apparently, there is a clause in his contract that would allow Bologna to sign the player for a fee of around €5 million at the end of the season.
The report further states that the player has impressed with his performances and his value has increased since the loan move. Apparently, Tottenham would have to shell out a fee of around €10-12m if they want to sign the player next summer.
Posch has a contract with Hoffenheim until the summer of 2024 and it remains to be seen whether Bologna sign him permanently in the summer. Apparently, the loan-to-buy deal becomes an obligation if certain conditions are fulfilled.
The report from Calciomercato does not specify what those conditions are and it remains to be seen whether Bologna are forced to pay up for a permanent transfer.
The 25-year-old Austrian defender is a center-back who can operate as a right-back as well. Tottenham could certainly use reinforcements in that department and the Austrian seems like an inexpensive option.
The player has certainly shown his quality in Italy and it remains to be seen whether the Londoners are prepared to take a chance on him in the summer.
The opportunity to join Tottenham is likely to be an attractive proposition for the player and he could be keen on the move if a concrete offer is presented.
