Tottenham linked with a move for 23-year-old Man United target this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Toby Savin.

According to a report from the Sun (page 59, 21/07), Tottenham have been scouting the 23-year-old goalkeeper for a few years and they could look to make a move for him this summer.

Apparently, Manchester United tried to sign the goalkeeper earlier this summer as their third-choice keeper.

The Red Devils wanted him to replace Tom Heaton at the club. Heaton is taking up a coaching role at Old Trafford and Manchester United will need to replace him. However, Savin failed two medicals at the Premier League club and ended up at Shrewsbury instead.

The likes of Tottenham and Newcastle were keeping tabs on his development over the last few seasons, and it will be interesting to see if they decide to make a move for him in the near future.

Tottenham already have sufficient depth in the goalkeeping department, and it would be quite surprising if they decided to move for the 23-year-old anytime soon.

Guglielmo Vicario is currently the first choice goalkeeper at Tottenham and the North London have Fraser Forster and Brandon Austin at their disposal as well. In addition to that, talented youngster Alfie Whiteman is also an option for the Londoners.

It would be ideal for Savin to continue at Shrewsbury Town and play regularly with the League One side. He needs to play often at the stage of his career and sitting on the bench at Tottenham is unlikely to benefit him.
