Tottenham linked with a move for 22-year-old South American talent

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Nacional goalkeeper Kevin Mier.

According to Daily Mail, Tottenham scout Jeff Vetere met with the 22-year-old goalkeeper regarding a potential move.

However, Vetere has now left Tottenham after sharing sensitive transfer information during an interview with Win sports TV. The 57-year-old Tottenham scout rated the 22-year-old Nacional goalkeeper highly and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham decide to pursue him regardless of Vetere’s departure.

The 22-year-old Colombian goalkeeper is highly rated in South America and he has a big future ahead of him.

Regarding the player, Vetere said: “I see a goalkeeper who does not lack anything to cross the pond. We are looking because it is our task to see who the best youngsters are for international football.

“Taking advantage of my stay in Colombia, I took the opportunity to go there (Nacional) and meet a goalkeeper who is important to me.

“I think he’s going to play for the national side soon. He has things, for me, they are not normal for a boy of his age. I was surprised by his confidence and his handling of the ball.”

It is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bring in goalkeeping reinforcements.

Club legend Hugo Lloris is clearly past his peak and the Frenchman has cost Tottenham dearly with his error-prone performances this season.

Antonio Conte will have to replace the 36-year-old at the end of the season and Mier could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition.

The Colombian is likely to be tempted to join the Premier League club and showcase his qualities at a higher level.

Working with a world-class coach like Conte could help the talented young goalkeeper improve further and fulfil his immense potential.

The player has a contract with Nacional until the summer of 2025 and he could cost a substantial amount of money at the end of the season.
