Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen their midfield with the signing of Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring nine goals and picking up four assists across all competitions.
A report from Calciomercato claims that Tottenham are currently leading the race for his services. However, the North London outfit will have to pay a premium. Atalanta could demand around £73 million for the midfielder (the fee Manchester United paid for Rasmus Hojlund).
Along with Tottenham, Liverpool are also in the lead when it comes to signing the Dutch international midfielder. Koopmeiners will certainly be attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League next season and a move to Tottenham would be an exciting step up for him.
He will add goals, creativity and physicality in the middle of the park. He could be the ideal replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has been linked to an exit from Tottenham.
The midfielder is entering the peak years of his career and he will want to compete at the highest level. The opportunity to move to England can be hard to turn down. Tottenham have an ambitious project and a quality manager at their disposal. They have put together an exciting squad as well.
If they manage to secure Champions League qualification, they will be an attractive destination this summer. However, the reported asking price could ward off suitors. The Italian club will have to be more reasonable with their demands.
