Tottenham key man set to leave the club after 13 years

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur Academy manager Dean Rastrick is set to part ways with the Premier League club.

A report from Football Insider claims that the academy manager has informed the London club of his desire to leave after more than a decade at the club.

Rastrick is set to take up a new role at the Football Association where he will reunite with the former Tottenham Academy director John McDermott. The Tottenham Academy manager has accepted the offer from FA and it remains to be seen how the Premier League side replaces him.

Rastrick joined the London club from Norwich City back in 2010 and he has been an indispensable asset for Tottenham. The north London club will have to replace him adequately and bring in someone who can nurture the exceptional pool of young talent at the club.

A number of talented young players have come through the club’s Academy under Rastrick and his replacement will have to deal with high expectations.

Tottenham do not have the resources to compete with financial powerhouses like Manchester City and therefore they need to rely on their Academy to produce talented young players who can break into the first team.

Bringing in a quality Academy manager who can pave the pathway from the Academy to the first team is imperative for the north London club. It remains to be seen who they bring in as Rastrick’s replacement in the coming months.
