Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has had a difficult season so far and the 35-year-old has been criticised for his performances.

As a result of that, there have been rumours that Tottenham could look to replace him at the end of the season. The London club has been linked with a number of keepers in recent weeks and the latest name linked with the move to Tottenham is that of the Ajax keeper Charlie Setford.

The 18-year-old is highly rated at the Dutch club and he is expected to develop into a quality shot-stopper in the future.

However, the player does not seem ready to replace someone like Lloris at a Champions League club, and Antonio Conte will probably need to bring in someone who is more experienced.

A report from Daily Mail claims that Tottenham are one of the few Premier League clubs interested in signing Setford, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham decides to bring him in as a future investment. They will be able to sign him on a free transfer at the end of the season and the player is eligible to secure a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club next month.

The transfer would make sense for both parties and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

It would be ideal if Tottenham decided to sign the player at the end of the season and loan him out so that he can gain some valuable first-team experience.
