Tottenham have ‘knocked’ on the door of €40m-rated South American forward

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the Barcelona forward Vitor Roque.

According to a report from Spanish publication AS, Tottenham tried to sign the player before he joined Barcelona and they remain keen on securing his signature. However, a move this summer is likely to be a temporary one and Barcelona are looking to loan him out so that he can get ample game time next season.

Roque joined Barcelona in January and he has had just 276 minutes of first-team action in La Liga. The 19-year-old needs to play more often in order to develop further and fulfil his tremendous potential. Sitting on the bench at Barcelona is unlikely to benefit him.

Meanwhile, Spurs need more quality and depth in the wide areas and the Brazilian winger could prove to be a quality acquisition. He has two goals in the Spanish league and Roque is likely to be a useful squad player for Tottenham.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to sign him on a temporary basis in order to add some depth to the squad. They will be desperate to push for trophies next season and they will need a deeper squad to do well across multiple competitions.

A move to the Premier League will be an interesting opportunity for the Brazilian and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are ready to provide him with the game time he needs. Barcelona must seek gametime assurances before sending the player on loan to the north London club.

Along with Tottenham, clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on the €40 million-rated winger as well. He has a bright future ahead of himself and Barcelona must handle his development with care. Getting him regular gametime should be a top priority for the Spanish outfit.
