Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
The 20-year-old Cameroon international has done quite well since joining the Premier League club and his performances have attracted the attention of Arsenal and Liverpool as well.
According to Talk Sport, Tottenham are keeping tabs on his situation, and they could look to make a move for him in the near future. Manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly a big admirer of the defensive midfielder, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can win the race for his signature.
The North London club could certainly use more quality and depth in the defensive midfield department. Baleba could compete with Yves Bissouma for the starting spot. Competition for places will help Tottenham improve as a squad, and his arrival will add some much-needed depth to the side as well.
However, the 20-year-old midfielder is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition. He has a contract with Brighton until 2028 and they have the option to extend it for another season. They are likely to demand a premium for the midfielder. They are under no pressure to sell him any time soon.
Meanwhile, Arsenal need more depth in the midfield as well, especially with the likes of Jorginho and Thomas Partey in their 30s, Baleba would be an excellent long-term investment for them.
As far as Liverpool are concerned, they are desperate to sign a defensive midfielder and they were willing to pay a club-record fee for the former Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo not so long ago.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can beat the two English clubs in the race to sign the Cameroon midfielder. The 20-year-old has the potential to play for the biggest clubs in the country, and he will certainly be attracted to the idea of joining Tottenham.
