Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes at the end of the season.
According to a report from HITC, Tottenham are keeping tabs on his progress and they will face competition from Manchester United for his signature. Aston Villa and Newcastle United are keen as well.
The 23-year-old has been outstanding for Wolves and he is likely to cost a premium in the summer.
He has adapted to the Premier League well since joining the club from Flamengo in January 2023. It will be interesting to see if Spurs decide to make a move for him at the end of the season.
There is no doubt that they need to bring in central midfield reinforcements and they have been linked with players like Conor Gallagher and Teun Koopmeiners.
Gomes will add defensive cover, creativity and control in the middle of the park. He is capable of slotting into the defensive midfield role as well as the central midfield.
The midfielder has picked up two goals and an assist in the Premier League this season and his numbers are likely to improve when he is playing in a better team alongside better players.
Spurs will look to secure Champions League qualification this season and they need a deeper squad. Signing the 23-year-old Brazilian could prove to be a wise decision. He would be a long term investment for them and Gomes could be tempted to join a big club like Tottenham as well.
It would give him the platform to compete for trophies and showcase his qualities in Europe as well.
