Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs keen on signing the Mainz striker Jonathan Burkardt at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has been in exceptional form for the German club this season, scoring 16 goals and picking up three assists along the way. He is reportedly on the radar of clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United as well.
According to TBR Football, Tottenham have been scouting the player and it will be interesting to see if they come forward with an offer in the summer. They could use more quality and depth in the attacking unit and Burkardt would be a quality long-term acquisition.
He could share the goalscoring button with Dominic Solanke and add more cutting-edge in the final third. Having two reliable strikers would give them greater tactical flexibility as well. Tottenham have struggled in the attack at times this season and they should look to bring in a reliable goalscorer and a dynamic forward capable of operating anywhere across the front three.
Burkardt would be a quality addition

The 24-year-old German striker has shown his quality in the Bundesliga and he has the technical attributes to do well in the Premier League League as well. The opportunity to join clubs like Tottenham will be quite exciting for him. It remains to be seen whether the German outfit are prepared to sanction his departure.
Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel recently reacted to the transfer interest in the player.
He said: “That’s normal: When a player is doing so outstandingly well in Mainz, he naturally becomes interesting for other clubs.”
The striker has a contract with the German club until 2027, and they are under no pressure to sell him just yet. They could easily demand a premium for his signature.
