Tottenham is up against time if they want to land Serie A midfielder

The midfield appears to be a position that managing director Fabio Paratici wants to improve this summer for Tottenham Hotspur. One target that he would like to bring from Serie A is AS Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini.

However, Calciomercato reports that Tottenham is up against time to secure a possible deal for the 25-year-old. In ten days, the ability to pay €30-million, which is the players’ release clause, will expire.

The Italian media outlet adds that it doesn’t seem the English club doesn’t want to pay that sum. Perhaps Paratici believes he can get the player for a lower price considering Pellegrini’s contract expires next year. If Roma doesn’t feel confident in extending his contract, they’ll need to sell this summer.

Pellegrini is looking for a pay raise from his current salary, which is €2.5-million per season. If Roma can’t offer him that type of contract, the Italy international could be looking for greener pastures.
