Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a surprise move for the Monaco striker Breel Embolo.

The 27-year-old will be sold this month, and Monaco have set an asking price of €20 million for the Swiss International. According to a report from L’Equipe, multiple clubs are keeping tabs on his situation and Tottenham happen to be ‘interested’ in him. It will be interesting to see if they follow up on their interest with an official offer to sign the player.

The Monaco star has 10 goal contributions in all competitions this season and he could prove to be a useful acquisition. Tottenham need more depth in the attacking unit and the 27-year-old is capable of slotting into the role of a centre-forward as well as a right-sided winger. He will add goals and creativity to the side. The Swiss International has the physicality to adapt to English football and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal across the line.

The reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his quality in today’s market. The 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers and if he manages to regain top form, he could be an asset for Tottenham. The player was highly rated across Europe a few years ago.

Tottenham could look to sanction the departures of Richarlison and Timo Werner. Embolo could be a useful alternative. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to pay €20 million for the player in the remaining days of the window.

The Swiss International is expected to secure an exit from Monaco before the transfer window closes. Spurs might need to act quickly if they want to win the race for his signature.
