Tottenham insider feels club could let 28-year-old utility man ‘leave for free’

John Wenham feels Tottenham could allow outcast Giovani Lo Celso to leave for free.

The North London club have been sensational in the ongoing transfer window. They have added a lot of quality to their squad and are still on the lookout for opportunities. On top of that, Spurs have offloaded quite a few players who were surplus to requirements. But, all is not done yet as the future of Giovani Lo Celso remains undecided.

The owner of Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, John Wenham feels Tottenham would consider letting the 28-year-old midfielder leave for free as there hasn’t been concrete interest in his services this summer.

While speaking on Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I could see Tottenham allowing him to leave for free.

“Just so that they’re not paying him over £100,000-per-week to sit in the stands, be miserable, and not contribute.

“Since the start of the window, he has been one of the players who I’ve always thought must go. I do still think he will leave before the transfer window shuts.”

The North London club forked out a significant fee to sign the Argentine midfielder from Real Betis. While he has expected to become one of their mainstays, things haven’t gone according to plan. Lo Celso has spent a significant amount of time out on loan. While he was a part of Ange Postecoglou’s first team last season, the Argentine was on the pitch for less than 600 minutes across his 24 outings.

He is not in their plans moving ahead and with his contract running out, Tottenham have been looking for a potential destination for the 28-year-old. But, they haven’t had much success. Since the player earns a massive £100,000-per-week, Wenham feels they will look to get him off their books even if it means allowing him to leave for free.

It won’t make sense to have him around on a massive wage just to sit on the sidelines and be miserable. The owner of Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels Lo Celso is one of those players who must leave and he is confident that the Argentine international will be on his way out before the end of the window.
