Tottenham insider claims Spurs are unlikely to improve key area this summer

By Saikat -

Club insider Paul O Keefe feels Tottenham are unlikely to bring in a new midfielder before the end of the ongoing transfer window.

The North London club might not have won a major silverware in a long while but they have been building a great project in recent seasons. They have signed some quality players since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and have carried on in a similar fashion this window.

Tottenham have added two teenage midfielder sensations Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray to their squad this summer. While both are expected to play a decent part in their debut campaign, they are unlikely to be regular starters. In recent weeks, Spurs have been linked with a few more experienced midfield stars but according to Paul O Keefe they are unlikely to sign a midfielder before the end of the window.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg might have been surplus to requirements under Ange Postecoglou but he was a key figure in the dressing room. Following his departure, they have been linked with players who can help them fill his void but the Tottenham insider has claimed that they won’t be making a move for a new midfielder this summer.

Despite the departure of Højbjerg, they look well covered in the centre of the park and Yves Bissouma’s performance against Everton makes it quite clear why they don’t feel the need for another defensive option in midfield. While Spurs won’t be pushing to strengthen the centre of the park, they could look to bring in a new goalkeeper or a defender if an opportunity presents itself.
