Tottenham in regular contact to sign 24-year-old attacker on Chelsea radar

Tottenham are in constant contact with Chelsea attacking target Jonathan David’s entourage.

Jonathan David finds himself on the wishlist of multiple top clubs from across Europe thanks to his exceptional performances for LOSC Lille over the past few seasons. The French club’s president Olivier Létang has already admitted that the Canadian international is likely to leave this summer.

Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on signing him and according to a report from Football Insider, the North London club have been in daily contact with his agents as they plot a move for his services. David has gone from strength to strength since joining the French club from KAA Gent. He has scored 84 goals in his 183 outings with 52 of those goals coming over the last two seasons.

His consistent performances have put him on the radar of Chelsea who are looking to sign a top quality forward who can lead the line for them starting next season. While the Blues are keen on bringing him to London, Tottenham are also pushing hard for his signature.

Signing a new number nine is a top priority for Ange Postecoglou. They surely did a decent job without signing a Harry Kane replacement last summer but to take the next step and challenge the best teams in the country, Spurs need a star striker who can lead the line. They feel David could be an ideal fit for their system. He is only 24 and could be around for years to come.

The North London club have been in constant contact with the player’s representatives as they look to table an offer for him in the near future. With just 12 months left on his deal, the report suggests that Lille would be willing to sanction his departure for a fee of £25 million. It could be a great opportunity for Spurs to sign a top forward for a bargain price and they do not want to miss out on him.
