Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks with the agent of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili over a potential summer transfer, according to 90min.
The player’s representatives were said to have been in England last week to ‘hold talks’ with several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham.
Mamardashvili, who is 22 years old, joined Valencia in 2021 on loan before making his move permanent. Despite Valencia’s poor form and relegation battle in La Liga, the Georgian international has been exceptional for the Spanish side.
He currently has a contract with Valencia that runs until the summer of 2027 and a release clause of around £85.7m.
However, the report suggests that Mamardashvili is ‘keen on leaving’ Valencia in the summer, and the club may be willing to let him go for a lower valuation.
The report claims that Valencia may be seeking a fee of around £30m for the talented young goalkeeper.
Tottenham are reportedly looking to replace their veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who has had a difficult season, making several mistakes that have led directly to goals, notably against Arsenal, Newcastle, and Manchester City. With Lloris’ form under scrutiny and patience wearing thin among the club and fans, it seems like his time at Tottenham may be coming to an end.
In addition to Tottenham, other clubs mentioned in the report that are interested in Mamardashvili include Manchester United, Chelsea, and Leicester City. Tottenham have also been linked with other goalkeepers such as Illan Meslier and David Raya as potential replacements for Lloris.
As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen which club Mamardashvili will ultimately join.
