Tottenham have ‘started contacts’ to explore summer move for 22-year-old

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring in a replacement for Hugo Lloris this summer and they have been linked with a number of goalkeepers.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Brentford goalkeeper David Raya remains a priority target for the London club but they have not been able to agree on a deal with his club.

Apparently, Raya is valued at around £40 million and Spurs are unwilling to pay that kind of money for a player who is in the final year of his contract. It seems that Spurs have now turned their attention elsewhere and they are eyeing a potential move for the La Liga goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Spurs have ‘started contacts’ for the 22-year-old goalkeeper and are exploring the conditions of the deal.

The 22-year-old has had an impressive campaign with Valencia and he could prove to be a solid, long-term acquisition.

The Georgian international has the ability to succeed in the Premier League and he could be a key member of the Tottenham squad for the foreseeable future.

The Valencia goalkeeper is quite young and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He could sort out the Tottenham goalkeeping position for the next decade.

Hugo Lloris has been a tremendous servant for Tottenham and he will need to replace him adequately. The 36-year-old has clearly regressed over the past year and his performances have been hugely underwhelming. He is no longer good enough to start regularly, but he could still be an important member of the dressing room, especially with his leadership qualities and experience.

The Frenchman could help mentor talented young goalkeepers like Mamardashvili over the next 12 months before his contract expires.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can agree on a deal for the La Liga goalkeeper in the coming weeks.
