Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bundesliga defender Nico Elvedi.
The Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back will be out of contract in the summer of 2024 and the German club are hoping to agree on a new deal with him. However, the 26-year-old has not signed an extension yet and he is being linked with a move away from the club.
According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Roma and Tottenham Hotspur have ‘shown interest’ in the player and it remains to be seen whether they come forward with a concrete proposal for the player in the coming months.
The Swiss defender is valued at €15-20 million and he could prove to be a bargain at that price.
The 26-year-old is at the peak of his career right now and he could be an upgrade on players like Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez next season.
Antonio Conte will have to bring in a reliable defensive partner for Cristian Romero and Elvedi seems like a quality option for them.
The player is available for a reasonable price and Tottenham must do everything in their power to get a deal across the line.
The Londoners are certainly a more attractive proposition compared to Roma. If they manage to secure Champions League qualification, they should be able to tempt the Bundesliga star into moving to the Premier League.
It would be a step up in the Swiss international’s career and he will want to test himself at a higher level.
