Tottenham ‘have met’ with £87.5m star’s entourage, two other PL giants keen

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili at the end of the season.

According to a report from Spanish publication COPE, Tottenham Hotspur ‘have met’ with the goalkeeper’s representatives in order to enquire about a potential summer move.

The 22-year-old has a contract with Valencia until the summer of 2027 and he has a release clause of around €100 million (£87.5m) in his contract.

It is fair to assume that Valencia will want not want to let the player leave for cheap and therefore Spurs will have to pay a premium in order to secure his services.

The North London club are not the only English club looking to sign him and they will face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United as well.

The 22-year-old Valencia goalkeeper has been quite impressive in La Liga and he has established himself as a key player for his club.

Tottenham need to sign a player like him as the long-term replacement for club legend, Hugo Lloris.

The French international has been a shadow of his former self and his error-prone performances have cost his side valuable points this season.

Spurs must look to bring in an upgrade on Lloris if they want to challenge for major trophies next season and the Valencia goalkeeper certainly fits the profile.

The 22-year-old has the potential to develop into a top-class player, and moving to the Premier League could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential. A transfer to Tottenham would be a step up in the player’s career as well, especially if the London club managed to secure Champions League qualification.
