Tottenham have ‘genuine interest’ in Ligue 1 ace who impressed in the World Cup

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Lorient defender Montassar Talbi.

According to Sacha Tavolieri via Josh Hughes Tottenham have ‘genuine interest’ in signing the 25-year-old defender who impressed for Tunisia in the World Cup.

Talbi can operate as the right central defender as well as the left central defender. His versatility will be an added bonus for Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou.

The defender has a contract with the Ligue 1 club until the summer of 2025 and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can agree on a reasonable deal for him.

The opportunity to play in the Premier League could be an attractive proposition for the 25-year-old and a move to Spurs would certainly be an option move for him.

The defender is entering his peak years and he will want to test himself at the highest level. Regular football in the Premier League could help him improve.

Meanwhile, it is no secret that Spurs need to add defensive reinforcements to the side.

They have signed Micky van de Ven and Ashley Philips so far but they are likely to part ways with players like Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Joe Rodon.

Another central defender should be a priority for them and the Tunisia international would be a quality acquisition.

It will be interesting to see if Spurs can get a deal across the line before the window closes.
