Tottenham have contract agreed with 28-year-old but he is set to join Saudi Arabia club

Clement Lenglet’s permanent move to Tottenham Hotspur is facing uncertainty as Saudi club Al-Nassr emerges as a potential destination.

The 28-year-old defender has been linked with a permanent move to Tottenham since the summer transfer window’s start, after impressing during his loan spell from Barcelona last season.

Spurs signed Lenglet on loan from Barcelona last summer and was considered to be a stop-gap signing at that time after the club failed to sign any of their top priority centre-backs.

Tottenham’s hierarchy had shown interest in signing Lenglet permanently at a reduced price, and the player himself has reportedly agreed to personal terms with the club.

As per a report from Sport, Al-Nassr have entered the race to sign the Frenchman offering €15 million to secure the Frenchman’s services.

This is more than what Spurs are willing to spend for him and despite having agreed on personal terms with Lenglet, Tottenham seems reluctant to match Al-Nassr’s bid.

The Saudi club’s offer surpasses what Tottenham are willing to pay for the player. Nonetheless, the report suggests that Lenglet himself prefers a move to Tottenham over Saudi Arabia.

With the situation reaching a critical point, the report claims that a potential resolution may come when Tottenham travels to Barcelona to play a friendly match ‘next week’.

It is during this meeting that the two clubs could potentially reach an agreement regarding the player’s future.

TBH says:

Spurs should focus on getting the deals for Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba done first.

Clement Lenglet is going to be a decent squad player if we can get him for cheap but the defense needs top class centre-back backs if we are to compete with the top guns in the upcoming season.
